A short film made for the 'SKIN' exhibition the collective 'MILK TEETH' that I am a part of curated at The Penthouse NQ, Manchester.

My intention behind 'Capper' was to replicate the feeling of unease through audio visuals that exploit textures and micro imagery.

Working under the pseudonym of ‘Starbelly’, I'm an experimental filmmaker who has worked within the ‘portrait’ documentary strand of film practice, edited dramas and created my own artist short films.

My passion lies within editing footage to music and rythm with archive materials, creating a sense of unease with work that contains undertones of surrealism and dark imagery.

A few examples of my work

A Case of Happy Accidents

'A Case of Happy Accidents' is a documentary film focusing on 'retired' illustrator Ian Pollock. A highly reputable man in the 80's, known for his work with high-profile publications, Ian now works from his desk at his home in Macclesfield; a small town near the Peak District.

This portrait documentary focuses on Ian's somewhat cynically upbeat morals as well as his modest outlook on his career. His work is a chaotic blend of dark ideas and thought processes that have to be slowly picked apart and discovered.

'A Case of Happy Accidents' explores his drawing style and artistic methods through the use of a self-portrait that is a visual metaphor of his life as an illustrator; refreshingly uncontrived, instinctive and free spirited.
